The Edward Guiliano Global Fellowship gave me the opportunity to unstick myself from the ways I had previously traveled and researched. The opportunity to visit these otherwise inaccessible spaces truly opened space for me to contextualize my studies at Brown and re-invigorated my passion for South America. This fellowship infused my semester with a creative outlet and strengthened my coursework and personal passions.
About My Project
Created a short documentary about the history of glaciers and indigeneity in the mountainous National Parks of Canada and Bolivia. The film was submitted to the 2019 No Man’s Land Film Festival, which features non-male voices.
Updates
Annie Savaria-Watson ’19 traveled to the Cordillera Real of Bolivia, the Northern Canadian Rockies, and the Vilcabamba Range of the Peruvian Andes to investigate the histories and human geographies of Western Hemisphere glaciers.
