About My Project

Bayalpata Hospital, nestled in the Himalayas, confronts formidable challenges in delivering specialized pediatric care due to the absence of rotating pediatricians and outdated emergency protocols. This project will initiate a transformative approach by updating pediatric emergency care protocols that have remained stagnant for over a decade, ensuring they reflect current best practices and significantly improving patient outcomes. Concurrently, the project will enhance the training of first responders by revising education resources such as PowerPoint presentations on critical topics such as newborn care, neonatal sepsis, and severe acute malnutrition. These updated materials will incorporate the latest guidelines, empowering frontline workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide timely, effective care to vulnerable pediatric patients. The project's final component will involve a rigorous analysis of the last five years of patient referrals to pinpoint common trends and gaps in pediatric care, including referral patterns, reasons for referrals, and patient outcomes. By illuminating these trends, the project aims to not only understand the specific needs of the pediatric population but also to drive impactful, data-informed interventions that will enhance the overall quality of pediatric care at Bayalpata Hospital, ultimately ensuring that children receive the specialized attention they deserve in a timely manner.
